Cameron Parish Schools - Election Day Schedule Change

Cameron Parish Schools – Election Day Schedule Change

At its recent meeting, the Cameron Parish School Board voted to designate Tuesday, November 3, 2026, as a Remote/Virtual Learning Day for all Cameron Parish Schools.

This change is being made in accordance with Louisiana Revised Statute 1:55(A)(8), which establishes Election Day in even-numbered years as a legal holiday for public schools in parishes where a public school has been designated as a polling place.

Because a Cameron Parish public school serves as a designated polling location, students will not report to school in person on November 3rd.

Student Expectations:
Students will be provided assignments to complete for the day. These may consist of traditional pen-and-paper assignments or activities completed using a Chromebook. Any assignments requiring technology will be provided sufficiently in advance to allow students time to complete them at school. Due to internet connectivity challenges throughout our parish, students will not be required to take Chromebooks home.

Teacher Expectations:
Teachers will use this day to complete any outstanding mandatory trainings required by Cameron Parish School Board, the Louisiana Department of Education, or applicable laws. Teachers will also have this time to complete their Student Learning Targets (SLTs), which are due November 5th.

There will be no in-person classes on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of our families and employees as we make this adjustment to comply with state law while continuing to provide meaningful learning opportunities for our students.
